So I won’t be able to refrigerate my laptop battery simply because if I take it out of my laptop there will be a big hole there that’s going to get filled with debris. I apologize if this gets anybody’s hopes up!
If you do however follow through with this experiment, please let us know what happened to you through a comment!

I’ve recently bought a new laptop and I know many of my friends have an problems in the past with their battery packs providing very little lifetime after about 1 year of use.
Many of them suggested fully discharging my laptop battery before plugging it into the cord for a recharge again.
After searching around on the net I found that that was a better suggestion for the old Nickel based batteries and is not true for the Lithium-based batteries.
Here are 4 great concise tips I found on the following website for entending your battery life:
- Leaving your power cord plugged in while your battery is fully charged generates heat is which bad.
- If you’re not using your battery store it at 40% charge in a cool place (refrigerator, not freezer). Don’t store it for long periods of time fully discharged.
- Although not good to fully discharge your lithium battery, overtime this may result in the ‘time remaining’ readings on your operating system to become inaccurate so it’s recommended to do a full discharge then recharge approx. every 30 charges.
I haven’t put my own battery in the refrigerator yet, but I’m going to try that now and I’ll write back on how that goes!
